Yes, and it’s exciting. According to the report filed by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association in Scarsdale, NY, the total US households who own a pet increased faster (+5%) than the total US population (+2%). The gain in overall pet ownership is associated with dogs, whose ownership increased +7% since 1996. The current level of dog ownership is the highest recorded in 10 years.
Why not use a kennel?
Animals that are used to being in a kennel such as hunting dogs can handle the stress associated with a kennel. Unfortunately, because of their very nature, kennels cannot provide the care and environment that domestic pets and their owners prefer.
Currently, there are between six and seven thousand boarding kennels scattered throughout the US.
